Animation i am working on for the loading of a web page...

MM Most Wanted

Most Wanted for spilling the milk... Thought it would be a good theme for the exhibition, i used milk as this is what last years exhibition was called. Mugshots of the students could be taken as if they were on the side of the carton or give them milk mustaches, if lactose intolerant then a half eaten cookie...

Web Site

I have just purchased a web space, its not running yet but the url is www.jamesaspden.co.uk... The company i went with was www.one.com it appeared like a good deal, i'll do a following review once i have used it...

Client Project

I have just bought a drawing tablet, this should help with graphics and animations that i'll be creating for the web site.

Artefact focus group...

I will look into conveying emotions through web design, by using taste whilst viewing a page. For example eating a piece of chocolate whilst viewing a web page can convey a different emotion. I will test this on a group of five people.

Second Artefact

For my second artefact i will look into the use of text on a web page, and how it could be used to convey a positive emotion. I will use the same approach as my first artefact, with a form style web page. Added javascript will be used so the user will be able to change the font the paragraph.

First artifact

For my first artifact i will investigate into the use of colour on a website. I will create a site where the colours will gradually change over time. A form will be filled in on the website to obtain results. The form will ask the user what emotional state they were in prior to using the site, and what emotional state they are in now.
With these results it should show whether an emotional state can be changed through the use of colour, and therefore change the users wellbeing.

Client Project, Dive Exuma

As Dive Exuma wants a site up and running ASAP i have made a simple website for the time being.
I will work with them in stages running up to the deadline. The flash website will be the last stage in the project.
Here is the first draft of the site...

http://www.dive-exuma.com

Client Project

For my client project i am going to work with a company called Dive Exuma. It is a SCUBA diving company based in Great Exuma, Bahamas. I will be producing an html based web site and a flash based web site for Dive Exuma. I am also making their brochures, but this will not be part of the client project as it does not relate to web design. There are talks of making a flash banner, but finding a site to advertise the company on is tricky.
The website will contain information about SCUBA diving with Dive Exuma and also relevant information concerning flora and fauna in the surrounding area...

PRP continued...

After researching into the state of wellbeing in relation to web design and use, it became clear that it is possible to convey a sense of wellbeing through web design. This is only justifiable if an agreement is made that the theory of well-being can become related to human emotions. As elements that make up design of a web page can change emotions it is therefore possible to alter the users well-being. If a positive emotion can be conveyed through web design it will give the user a more pleasurable experience and therefore increase their well-being.

KAZAM!...

The microsite that i made for the short client project was for a fictional company called KAZAM. My main inspiration for the title of the insect repellent company was from Cilit Bang. I was going to mimic their slogan "BANG! and the dirt is gone" with "KAZAM! and the bug is gone..." I thought i would stay away from any cheeseyness...
The microsite made resembles an interactive comic book. I thought that the outcome would appeal to children and inform them with their important decisions on insect repellent purchases.
The downside to the design of the microsite was that it did not reflect on what insect repellent is perceived. As this was a client project i should have stepped back from any experimental design ideas.
I wanted to keep the microsite html with CSS integrated. This would allow for a much wider range of accessibility. The site contains Javascript and embedded media of jpgs and PNGs. I think that the site could look much better if flash was used as well...
You can view the site at...
